My name is Dustin and I am also a senior closing in on my degree. I've been working in IT Security for a couple decades and have lived in Connecticut for most of my life. I have a wife and 2 children and most of my efforts are focused on them as we home school (not distance learning) and they are my life.

Bio & Week 1 Dot Assignment

Hello, my name is Daniel, I am a senior at Albertus and this should be my final MOD. Upon completion of this MOD, I would earn my Bachelor in business management with a focus on human resources. I chose this class to fine-tune my artistic abilities online and to use what I have learned for a few business ideas to bring in additional income. My time at Albertus has been very rewarding and if it weren't for the DL option I would have never been able to complete my degree. I want to wish everyone good luck in this MOD and I am excited to see all your creativity.

Fotothing Clarification

Back before we had Google Apps for Education at Albertus, I used Fotothing in England to host the bulk of the images and asked students to only post 2 or so images for each assignment here on the blog...

That worked out better.... But that was then....

Fotothing is almost out of business and not accepting new accounts... and the blog runs much faster now so I would like you to post all 6 (or more) of your images for each assignment right here on the blog, like Ketjon has done... when you click on an image it gets enlarged as a full screen view.   There are arrows to navigate to each image.... hitting the esc (escape) key returns you to the regular view (or the "X" in the upper right and side).

Remember, all work is due by Monday morning by 10 am each week.  Attendance is taken each week... each project counts as 1 attendance record.

Bio & Dot Assignment

Hello, my name is Rosse Velez. I have been a medical assistant for many year but in this past month that has changed due to a need for a change of scenery. I take care of my mother, my nephew and work nights now. I am excited for this class since i love anything to do with art.

Bio + Dot Assignment

My name is Elizabeth Larkin. I have been a community organizer in New Haven for eight years, focusing on queer liberation, housing justice, and police accountability. Most recently, I worked for four years as a case manager for youth experiencing homelessness. During that time, I began a youth-led advisory board to help shape policy and programming at the organization and within the city. A week ago, I adopted an adorable puppy. Her name is Kishke, which means 'guts' in Yiddish.

I've never used photoshop before; to be honest, I thought this was a traditional drawing class, not a digital design class. However, I'm generally a good sport, and I'm excited to learn about digital design, which seems like a useful skill.

Bio & Dot Assignment - Week One

Bio

Hi All... My name is Julia Angiletta even though I am currently going by Julia Luster. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it has taken some time to update my name change. I was married in February to a wonderful man and am very proud to carry his name. I am in my sophomore year majoring in Arts Management. I live in Middletown. I am excited to learn more about Art history and different mediums utilized to create art. I am fairly new to the prospect of digital art and look forward to learn more as I progress through this course.

~Happy designing...

Dot Assignment - Week One

Hi Class... Here is my dot assignment post. I must say that it was a challenge for me to complete. I am so glad to get it done and to learn more about creating art with the Photoshop program. Once you get a hang of it, it really is so much fun. I could keep making more dot art... I hope you like them!

Bio + Project 01 Dot

Bio

Hi, my name's Ketjon Dedej.  I am a senior majoring in Graphic Design. I live in Southbury, but am from all over. I am a trilingual as I was born in Albania, grew up in Italy and now am American. I chose Graphic Design mostly due to my background in art; I have been taking separate art classes since I was a kid and am very adept at computers, so Graphic Design met what I particularly am good at and enjoy. I am also currently interning as a Graphic Design and Communications Intern at the Quinnipiac Chamber of Commerce in Wallingford.

First join the blog!

What do you need to do this week?

The first step in class is to join the blog.  Please click on the link in the email Blogger sent you.  If you don't see it in your email, please check you spam folder as the Albertus email system has been very aggressive about spam lately.  Once you have joined using your Albertus login, the next step is to download and install Photoshop by going to Adobe.com and first logging in using your Albertus login again.  Now you can download Photoshop.  Please don't download Photoshop using the free 7 day trial link...

Post the first project here as 6 or more separate images ... The dot should be a perfect circle not an oval, the bounding box a perfect square... these elements are important... Hold shift and alt to create perfect shapes using the marquee tools as shown in the video.

Please email me with any questions.

Sunday, October 25, 2020

 Dear class,

As of Sunday evening, ITS has not yet entered your Albertus emails into the Adobe database... If you try to log into Adobe.com, you will receive an error message... Hopefully this will be resolved on Monday, the first day of class.

Please check the syllabus for projects due each week.  2 projects should be posted here each week.

I will take attendance on Monday morning for work posted the previous week... 2 projects for 2 attendance records.  The expectation is that you will create at least 6 examples/variations for each project.

Looking forward to working with you!  Email me with any questions.

Photoshop is installed on all publicly available computers at Albertus...The Library, Rm 114 in the TAG center and 315 Aquinas Hall.

The first week will be about getting up to speed in creating your accounts and getting your software image editing program working.

You will complete 2 projects each week as listed on the syllabus linked in the upper right hand side of the blog.  If you are new to blogging, please watch the short video also linked in the upper right hand side of the blog on how to post to the blog.
Each project is introduced and one or more videos linked in the syllabus take you through each project, step by step.

Spring 2020

For each project, please do at least 6 variations and post them to the blog.

I host the syllabus on my website,http://jnevins.com.  Take a look around there to look at my teaching philosophy, syllabi, portfolios of my own work, tutorials and more...

Here is a link to the syllabus for this class:http://jnevins.com/twodimensionaldesignsyllabusonline.html

There you will find links to each project.

Important!.... click on the link In the email I had blogger send you it will be from Jerry (me)...   you don't need to create your own blog... just join the class one..

We have 10 students in this class... put all of your work here on the blog.  I will leave comments on each post here.

For the first week:

Download and install your image editing program...

Look over past student work posted on the blogs, linked from the syllabus. Create the first assignment, The Dot and post 6 variations here.

I want you to have fun with this class and not get hung up on any of the technical stuff...  Once you get rolling, you'll see it is fun and very engaging...

Don't hesitate to call me at home if you are stuck!
